The Wandering Albatross

Image result for wandering albatrossThe Wandering Albatross is also known as the Snowy Albatross or the White-winged Albatross (Diomedea exulans). These sea birds feed on small fish, cephalopods, and crustaceans. They have an almost pelagic range, excluding the North Atlantic ocean. This species can live for over 50 years and because of their size do not have any regular predators. I found it so interesting that the Wandering Albatross gets whiter as they get older and they have the largest wingspan of any bird found on our planet (Oceanwide). I believe this species is to pollution what the polar bear is to climate change. There is a film called Albatross and it's purpose is to show the audience how the trash is invading their habitat and that some are even ingesting small plastic objects. I believe most people are familiar with the negative effects of this extinction driver for the Albatross, but I will get into more specific details in my following posts.
